Viva Formosa ♥ F4! This could only mean that my Taiwan posts are due very soon! First update is due tomorrow night.
Foodish Heart is officially open! I’ve been planning on a food blog for a very long time and it’s great to finally get the site done. Updates will simultaneously alternate with the travel logs to be posted here :) I’m pretty excited for this launch and tomorrow I’ll be sending out cards as part of my attendance in iBlog5. See you there!
(This is a week old entry which I regrettably was not able to write on an earlier date.)
A great friend once said that she disliked reading and writing about the things she felt. She told me that the reason why she became an artist was so that she could express the things that she couldn’t say. And perhaps for the most of us, this is true. While other graduates are about to finish writing another chapter of their lives, we on the other hand chose to draw ours. Whether it is through the creative depiction in illustration, a snap of a camera, or moulding a fantastic sculpture, we, the students of this great college chose to be artists.
That was the introduction to the speech I never got to finish, and never got to say. There are many sincere sentiments I wish I can lay out but the words failed me as my mind was bogged down with an endless fever that went on and off for a week. I was miserable to say the least. But I’m kind of glad this didn’t see it’s conclusion. The whole point of the paragraph was to expound on the idea that there’s no greater or apt expression for us (me) than the visual art.
But in the end, it doesn’t matter. What did, were the smiles on our parents’ faces, the pride that swelled from our hearts when we lit our candles, the excessive hand holding from our dearest friends, and all of this capped off by the valedictorian’s triumphant hurrah. Thank you everyone. WE KICKED ASS AND GRADUATED FROM THE BEST COLLEGE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. CONGRATULATIONS.

“I do” wedding bands by Sakurako Shimizu.
A set of wedding bands based on a recording of a person saying “I do”. These can be custom produced for any couple. The whole process of recording own voice and making wedding rings for each other is a unique experience.
That’s absolutely beautiful. It would only matter to you and me.
From Val Chua ♥
1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me!”
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on.
1. How does it feel, now that you’re graduating soon?
I am positively terrified. Though it’s exciting that thesis will be over and I can finally rediscover what sleep feels like, Graduation is such a huge junction. Last time I graduated I freaked out to no end, wondering what I would do for the rest of my life. And now I’m pretty torn with studying more or starting on a job.
2. What is your dream profession?
I would’ve wanted to be an illustrator/ designer- a versatile artist that can switch between fine art and commercial work. The problem with me is that I was built to become a jack of everything. There’s a lot that could be accomplished, the question now is whether I’m happy with what I’m doing specifically.
3. Why don’t you post in LJ anymore?
My problem with LJ is that it takes more work to post things I want to share. WordPress is faster and I get a huge chunk of free space. Masnagaganahan ako magpost with this new blog :D But all my friends and groups are there so I keep mine around just for that.
4. By the end of the year, what do you want to accomplish in terms of your art? Why?
I want to be able to paint the way I want. I think I’m close but there’s a need for huge amounts of practice. Right now I’m tinkering with oil + acrylic. Hopefully I could get that down this year.
5. If you had enough money and the liberty to choose what kind of house and country you’d live in, where will it be? Describe it (para fun) :D
My dream house was always “Fallingwater” by Frank Lloyd Wright! Isn’t it gorgeous? Wouldn’t it be heaven to live by a waterfall. From what I know there’s an exit so you can climb down and take a dip. I’d be inspired every day of my life! I guess I would have preferred a less angular style but the organic exterior is exquisite. I don’t know what country I’d prefer but as long as it is dreamy like this without mosquitoes, I’m game!
Introducing, the most EPIC movie about climate change: CLIMATES- a tale of metaphorical greatness!
Woohoo! After a million movies done for school, I finally got to play a part in one! Haha! I also got to hold the camera for the most part and plan the cinematography with epic friends: Guia Tagle, Isa Caruncho and Tracy Monsod. Extra thanks to Nico Nico Nico Dans and Rayzone. YEHEY! THE MOST BRILLIANT MOVIE EVER MADE. YES IT IS. Unarguably so!! HAHA!
Yes. I AM deviating from my thesis. It’s the last friggin’ weekend yo! Sumayaw! Sumayaw!
I am wanting so hard I can’t begin to explain it. No. I do not play Magic the Gathering. I am in fact a card collector. I have been a collector of the art of Rebecca Guay since before college. I am ECSTATIC of this find and I positively must have it. It’s absolutely breath taking!!!
Erik! I will haunt your frickin’ dreams until you let it go and give this baby to me! hahaha!
I drew a lot within the past hour… I had a sudden epiphany over thesis care of a friend. So now I’ve been drawing tons of flourishes that are spinoffs from my usual oriental nouveau style. These are to be painted and placed in my book.
Most of the designs are scrolling patterns and whisps that interplay with sprigs of corriander and bits of star anise.

Sent to me by the wonderful Isa Caruncho. Just felt like sharing. I’ve been sleeping better than I have for weeks but I’m still waist deep in work and it seems like it never ends!
I couldn’t sleep… cough has been keeping me awake. My chest hurts so bad.
So I got up and got on the computer. Fished through my thesis and found a photo I have come to love. It’s similar to my post on ginger and garlic, but this is my mother’s prized possession, her dried mountain mushrooms. I can’t wait for her to make soup with them. I’d like to learn how to make it myself.
This photo marks a time when I would only have 6 days left to work. 9 photos left to take, several spreads yet to be made for my thesis. I want to curl up somewhere with a good book, somewhere nice like a beach. I’d like to spend a few afternoons in the water, spend a few of them in bed- spend my days without a leaky faucet for a facial appendage. Good times.
